What this site is for
Buying data room software usually happens under pressure. A sale has been agreed in principle, a funding round is about to open, or a regulator has asked for documents by Friday. The person choosing the platform is often a CFO, a general counsel or an associate who has never bought one before and will not buy another for years.
We built this site for that person. Instead of a single “best of” list, it is organised the way a software buyer thinks: what the product does (feature comparison), what it costs (pricing calculator), how to set it up (setup guide), what AI changes (AI in data rooms) and which platform suits which job (best software by use case).
Who writes it
Pages are produced by the Data Rooms Software editors, a small group whose working lives have been spent in corporate finance, legal operations and B2B software. We publish under a shared byline because every page is checked by more than one person and updated as facts change; no single author owns a verdict.
How we evaluate software
Our evidence is the kind a buyer can verify: vendor documentation and feature pages, listed prices, audit reports and certificates, and a shared facts file recording each platform’s features, certifications, founding year and headquarters. Those facts feed a scoring model with six criteria, described on the scoring methodology page.
We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. Where a question can only be answered inside a trial or a demo, such as how fast the viewer loads a large spreadsheet, we turn it into a checklist for you to run with your own files.
Money
A few vendor links pay us a commission when a reader buys. That income pays for the site. It has no say over scores or wording, and no vendor can pay for a position. The affiliate policy explains the arrangement, and the editorial principles explain how we keep it separate from the rankings.
Corrections and feedback
If a price has moved, a feature has shipped or we have simply got something wrong, the contact page reaches the editors directly. Vendors use the same route. Corrections are reviewed within a few working days.
